Questions contractors ask
01Does it change my number?
No. Calls you miss forward to your Island Reply line. Most carriers can do this. Google Voice can't.
02Do callers know it's automated?
Yes. A computer voice greets them in your business name and offers a text. Every text starts with your business name. Nothing pretends to be you.
Read the exact greeting03What if the caller doesn't press 1?
They don't get a text. You get their number by text within a few minutes, so you can call back. We can't read voicemails yet.
04What counts as an emergency?
A text that mentions a gas smell, smoke, sparks, flooding, a sewage backup, or no AC with kūpuna at home. It's marked URGENT on your cell, any hour.
The full rule05Does it book jobs or talk with my customers?
No. It doesn't chat, quote prices or give arrival times. You call back and book. Then text BOOKED with the job's number from your alert, and the reminders stop.
06What about people who don't want texts?
They don't get any. Only callers who press 1 get a text. Reminders only go to people who reply YES, at most 3. Anyone can reply STOP and the texts end right away.
07Does it work with Jobber or Housecall Pro?
It works next to them, but it doesn't connect to them. The job comes to your cell by text, and you enter it in your software as usual.
08How long until it's running, and what do I do?
About 4 to 8 weeks, because the phone carriers must approve business texting. We do the paperwork. You turn on call forwarding, OK the wording, add two pages to your website and call the jobs back.
What your pages must contain09What does it cost?
Founding shop: $247 a month, locked for 12 months. Core: $297 a month. Both have a $750 one-time setup, and your first month after going live is free. There are 3 founding spots. Pro is coming soon.
10Who runs Island Reply? Is anyone using it yet?
A new business, run by its founder. Based in Honolulu, Oʻahu. When you email, the founder answers. No shop is using it yet, so there are no results to show.
