We text back the calls you miss, flag the emergencies, and follow up on the jobs that go quiet.
You're on a roof or under a house when the phone rings. Island Reply catches the call and puts the job on your phone. Callers who press 1 get a text from your business. Everyone else shows up as a call-back. We set it up and run it for you.

What happens when you miss a call
-
You can't pick up.
Your phone forwards the unanswered call to your Island Reply line. Your number doesn't change.
-
The caller hears a short greeting.
It uses your business name. They can press 1 to get a text, or leave a voicemail. The greeting tells them what the texts are about, that rates may apply and how to stop.
-
They get a text back.
Press 1 and a text from your business arrives within about a minute, asking what's wrong and where. Texts to customers only go out between 8 am and 8 pm, Hawaiʻi time. Later calls get their text the next morning.
-
The answer becomes a job ticket.
AI reads the voicemail or the text reply and fills in the issue, the address and how urgent it is.
-
Emergencies go straight to you.
No AC with kūpuna at home, an active leak, a gas smell: your phone gets an alert right away. Everything else comes to your phone as a regular text, for when you're free.
Your part
- Turn on call forwarding (we walk you through it)
- Approve your greeting and text templates
- Have a privacy policy and texting terms page on your business website (carriers check it before they approve your texts)
- Call back the jobs
Our part
- Setup and carrier registration
- Quiet hours and opt-outs
- Follow-ups and the weekly report
- Keeping it running week to week
What lands on your phone
Set up and run for you. You answer the jobs.
-
01 · Right away
Emergency alerts
When a voicemail or text sounds like an emergency, your phone gets an alert right away with the issue and the address.
Emergencies
- No AC with kūpuna, a baby or someone sick at home
- Active leak or flooding
- Gas smell
- Sparks or burning smell
- Sewage backup
-
02 · Each call
A text with the job, not a voicemail to dig through
Each call becomes a short text with the caller's number and a summary: what's wrong, where, how urgent. Call them back from the text.
-
03 · Up to 3
Follow-ups you don't have to remember
Up to 3 polite follow-ups, only to people who agreed to follow-up texts. Open estimates (sent as a spreadsheet) get followed up too: by text only with written consent, otherwise by email or onto a call list.
-
04 · Every Monday
A weekly report
Calls caught, jobs booked, revenue recovered. Reply BOOKED with the amount when you book; if you skip the amount, the report uses your average job price. Every Monday by email and text, with a short list each morning.

Hawaiʻi trades, every island.
HVAC, plumbing and mechanical contractors. Owner-operators and small crews, where the person who answers the phone is also the one on the job.
- You run service calls, not only new construction
- You miss calls while you're working, and some callers don't try again
- Your business line can forward unanswered calls (most carriers can; Google Voice can't)
Every island in Hawaiʻi, from Kauaʻi to Hawaiʻi island. Based on Oʻahu. On the mainland? Email anyway.
Rules every customer text follows
Set before the first text goes out. The same for every shop.
- Sender
- Your business name, not ours.
- Quiet hours
- No texts to customers before 8 am or after 8 pm, Hawaiʻi time. Alerts to your own phone come any hour.
- Opt-out
- Reply STOP and the texts stop right away.
- Wording
- Fixed templates you approve. Nothing promises a price or an arrival time.
- Follow-ups
- Only to people who agreed to follow-up texts. Unsold estimates get a text only with written consent; otherwise email, or your call list.
- Carrier registration
- Business texting has to be registered with the carriers. We handle it. About 2 to 4 weeks. Your website needs a privacy policy and texting terms.
- Your number
- Stays the same. Works through call forwarding on most carriers. Not Google Voice.
- Customer data
- Never sold. Voicemail recordings are deleted after they're transcribed. Details in the Privacy Policy.
Questions contractors ask
Does it change my number?
No. You keep your number, and customers keep calling it. When you can't pick up, your carrier forwards the call to your Island Reply line.
Works on most carriers; Google Voice isn't supported.
Do customers know it's automated?
Yes. The greeting is automated, and so are the texts: short, fixed messages you approve, starting with your business name. Nothing pretends to be you or one of your techs.
When a customer needs a real answer on price or timing, that goes to you.
What about people who don't want texts?
They don't have to get any. On the call, a text is a choice: press 1, or just leave a voicemail.
Follow-up texts only go to people who said yes to them. Unsold estimates only get a text with written consent; otherwise email or your call list.
Anyone can reply STOP and they're off the list right away. No customer texts before 8 am or after 8 pm Hawaiʻi time.
What does setup take?
Not much from you. We set it up and run it. You turn on call forwarding (we walk you through it), approve your greeting and text templates, and tell us which phone gets the alerts.
Business texting has to be registered with the carriers first. We handle that paperwork; it usually takes about 2 to 4 weeks. Carriers also check your business website: it needs a privacy policy and texting terms in your business name.
What does it cost?
We go over pricing on the 15-minute demo, after we see how calls reach you today.
What if the AI gets something wrong?
You're the backstop. The AI only reads and sorts messages. Customers only get fixed texts you approved, so nothing is promised to them: no price, no arrival time.
Every missed call reaches you as a text with the caller's number, even with no voicemail, so you can call and check. Words like gas, smoke, sparks, flood or sewage always mark a job urgent, even if the AI misses it. If the AI fails, the message still reaches you. Tell us when a summary is off and we fix it.
