SMS Terms
These terms cover text messages from Island Reply's own program, “Island Reply texts,” and explain how texts we send for contractors work.
The short version
- Program: Island Reply texts (replies to people who contact Island Reply, demo and support messages).
- Message frequency varies. Up to 3 reminder texts per request, only if you say YES to them.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to cancel.
- No texts before 8 am or after 8 pm Hawaiʻi time.
- Support: hello@islandreply.com
1. The program
“Island Reply texts” is the text messaging program run by Island Reply (“Island Reply,” “we,” “us”). These messages come from Island Reply's own numbers and are sent under the name Island Reply. The program covers two kinds of messages:
- Replies to your requests. When you call or text an Island Reply number about our service, for example to ask how Island Reply works, we reply about that request. We confirm we got it, ask for details, and follow up if needed.
- Demo and support messages. If you asked us for a demo or for support, we text about scheduling, setup steps and your questions.
The program is for these messages only. We don't add you to a marketing list.
2. How you opt in
You can opt in by:
- calling an Island Reply number and pressing 1 when the greeting offers a text;
- texting an Island Reply number;
- replying YES when, in a text conversation you started, we ask whether you'd like reminder texts from us; or
- asking us by email to text you about a demo or support, and giving us your mobile number for that.
Pressing 1 or texting us lets us reply about your request. Reminders are a separate choice: we ask by text, and we only send them if you reply YES. Nobody gets a text just to ask for consent.
Agreeing to texts is never a condition of buying anything. By opting in, you confirm that you're the account holder for that phone number or have their permission.
What callers hear before they press 1
The greeting on an Island Reply line says:
“Thanks for calling Island Reply. Sorry we missed you. Press 1 and we'll text you at this number about your request. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Terms at islandreply.com. Or stay on the line to leave a message.”
Pressing 1 is your consent to texts about that request. We keep a record of your number, the date and time, and that you pressed 1 after this greeting.
3. Message frequency
Message frequency varies with your request. Usually that's a reply and a few messages to sort out the details. Reminders on an open request are sent only if you said YES to them. There are up to 3 per request, and they stop when the request is resolved or when you opt out.
4. Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply. Check your mobile plan for details. Island Reply doesn't charge you for texts.
5. HELP and STOP
- HELP: reply HELP to any message and we'll reply with our name and how to reach us. You can also email hello@islandreply.com.
- STOP: reply STOP to cancel. CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, OPT OUT, OPTOUT, UNSUBSCRIBE and STOPALL work too. So does any reasonable request in your own words, such as “please stop texting me,” by text or by email to hello@islandreply.com. Your opt-out takes effect immediately. You may get one final text confirming it. After that, we won't text you unless you opt in again.
- To opt back in: reply START or UNSTOP.
6. Quiet hours
We don't send texts before 8 am or after 8 pm Hawaiʻi time (HST). A message that would fall outside those hours waits until 8 am. The only exception is the automatic reply to HELP or STOP, which goes out right away because you asked for it.
7. Carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Text delivery depends on your carrier, your coverage and your device, so we can't guarantee every message arrives.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. In short: no mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and your text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We share only what's needed with subcontractors that support the service, such as our texting provider.
9. Texts sent for contractors
Island Reply also sends texts on behalf of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical contractors who use our service. Those texts are not part of the Island Reply texts program. Each contractor is registered with the carriers as its own brand, with its own texting program. Here's how they work:
- The contractor is the sender. Texts go out under the contractor's business name, and the contractor's own texting terms and privacy policy, posted on the contractor's website, apply. We send them for the contractor as a service provider.
- You opt in with that contractor, for example by pressing 1 when you call them, texting them first, or giving them written consent, such as on their estimate. Nobody gets a text just to ask for consent. Reminder texts need a separate YES, and follow-up texts about an unsold estimate are only sent with your written consent. The greeting on a contractor's line uses the same wording as ours, with the contractor's business name, and points to that contractor's terms.
- The same rules apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to cancel, or make any reasonable request to stop. No texts before 8 am or after 8 pm Hawaiʻi time. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- Opting out is per business. STOP ends texts from that contractor. It doesn't affect texts from other businesses.
- Questions about your job go to that contractor. Questions about how the messages are handled can come to us at hello@islandreply.com.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date at the top.
